Acupuncture is a form of primary health care in New Mexico. It helps to relieve signs and symptoms of many health problems. It can uncover the underlying root cause of symptoms. Acupuncture is safe, natural, drug free, and effective. For thousands of years it has been acknowledged for its non pharmaceutical, simple applications, low cost and wide range of use. Acupuncture has a proven track record of treating pain conditions and a variety of other health concerns which include endocrine, circulatory and other systemic conditions. Acupuncture and modern western medicine are complimentary when used together and can support, strengthen, and nurture the body to optimal well being.
Naturally, people associate needles with pain, however, it does not hurt. The needles are extremely fine, and flexible. The sensation upon insertion is not painful and can increase a sense of relaxation, as well as, relief. Acupuncturists are trained to insert needles without pain.
Each person is different. The initial phase of a treatment plan is usually 4-10 visits. Typically, once a week. Then once a patient experiences significant relief, their visits are more for maintenance and come once a month or as necessary. Length of treatment depends on factors, such as, the length of time their condition has been present and severity.
