Whole Body Wellness is a privately-owned practice specializing in sports/medical massage and other manual therapy treatments. While Swedish or relaxation massage has its place, our offerings are outcome- and goal-driven. Our team of licensed massage therapists are trained to provide customized treatments for each individual. Chiropractic

Dr. David Jones D.C. was first introduced to chiropractic care as a child because his family doctor was the community chiropractor, so growing up, he learned much of what health is through holistic teachings.  Dr. Jones D.C. relied on his chiropractor more than ever when he was nine; he had sustained a severe injury from a horseback riding accident.  After regular chiropractic care, he felt firsthand the incredible results chiropractic offers.  He then knew he wanted to pursue a career in promoting health and restoration to the body.  Soon after graduating high school Dr. Jones knew his passion and pursued his undergraduate studies in Davenport, Iowa. He then transferred to complete his studies at the San Francisco Bay Area’s prestigious Life West Chiropractic College. 

While attending chiropractic college, beyond the regular studies, Dr. Jones D.C. participated in several outreach programs, including a selective mission trip to El Salvador, where he provided chiropractic care to hundreds of people, from the very young to the very old.  While in school, he pursued specialized training in Chiropractic Certification in Spinal Trauma (CCSTTM). Dr. Jones is one of few chiropractors with CCST certification in Santa Fe who know the traumas associated with spinal trauma from motor vehicle accidents and the clinical rehabilitation necessary to restore the body.  Also, while in college, Dr. Jones gained further knowledge in corrective rehabilitation by obtaining a Certification in Chiropractic Biophysics (CBPTM), one of the leading postural corrective and rehabilitative techniques.  CBP is one of the most researched and scientific techniques available, with proven techniques to improve posture, alignment, and functional restoration of the body. 

Acupuncturists

Dr. Hackler began his studies of Kototama Inochi Medicine in 1994, completing a 4,000-hour apprenticeship training program with Dr. Thomas Duckworth, and became licensed as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM) in 1999. He is a third-generation practitioner, teacher, and lineage holder of Kototama Inochi Medicine, founded by Sensei Masahilo Nakazono.  In 2021, he received a doctorate in Kototama Inochi Medicine for his dedication to the discipline and its lineage from his teacher, Dr Duckworth.

Dr. Hackler has maintained a busy family practice, including pediatric care, for nearly 25 years.  He grew up in Santa Fe and completed his apprenticeship and early years of practice in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.  He then relocated to the Midwest, where he spent years practicing and teaching medicine with his mentor, Dr. Thomas Duckworth, in St. Louis, MO. In Missouri, he served as President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Acupuncture Association and was also appointed by the Governor to be a member of the Acupuncture Advisory Committee for the state.  In addition, for 18 years, Dr. Hackler was the Project Director for the Institute of American Acupuncture and Life Medicine (IAALM), a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization offering health care to the underserved community of the St. Louis region.  Dr. Hackler has also trained students through extensive apprenticeships who have become successfully licensed as Acupuncturists since 2020.

In 2020, Dr. Hackler completed a specialty doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, in Austin, TX.  The doctoral work has furthered Dr. Hackler’s knowledge of bio-medicine and assessments and advanced techniques and practices in Eastern Medicine.  His specialties include working with all types of chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, depression and anxiety, and symptoms and conditions that have arisen due to physical, sexual, and emotional trauma. Dr. Hackler is also bilingual in English and Spanish.

Dr. Hackler is very happy to be back in his home city of Santa Fe with his wife, JennTara, and his son, Isaiah.

Adam Broder, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, has been practicing acupuncture since 2018 after receiving a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe.

He has also received extensive training in Shiatsu and Sports Medicine Acupuncture and traveled to Nicaragua to work alongside Indigenous healers and clinical herbalists. His treatments often use the Sa’am System, a form of acupuncture from Korea that is effective while using minimal needles.

Dr Broder continues his own professional educational journey as a student in the White Pine Institute Graduate Mentorship Program, learning classical methods of herbal prescribing from the renowned Sharon Weizenbaum.  Accepting Chinese Medicine as a modality rooted in the changes and cycles of nature and the principle that illness and pain occur when an individual has lost an aspect of their relationship to the natural order resonates with Dr Broder.  He infuses his practice with what he understands to be the vital context of natural rhythms…especially in today’s Age of Technology.  Herbal formulas, acupuncture, and other modalities can help restore this relationship and bring about true holistic healing.

Massage Therapists

Michael has been a massage therapist for 12 years.  He has a special interest in the treatment of sports-related injuries and works with professional athletes.  He also enjoys helping weekend warriors get back into the action.  Michael attended the Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine and Health Sciences.  His work is a combination of manual therapy, stretching and home exercise instruction.  And while Michael appreciates the value of relaxation massage, his interest and talents lie in treating soft-tissue injuries and helping hist patients to optimize movement.

Michael’s journey into massage therapy and personal interest in alternative healthcare stem from an injury he sustained in his youth while competing in a Martial Arts tournament - a small tear in my supraspinatus muscle’s tendon (a rotator cuff muscle),  His physician believed that the injury was not treatable, which was devastating news to Michael as martial arts is a family tradition in which he and his older brothers all competed. Years went by without the injury being properly addressed, which resulted in increased pain and dysfunction. Finally, out of desperation, Michael went for massage and acupuncture treatments, which in turn got him back to the point of being virtually pain-free. Michael was amazed at how much better he felt and was inspired to pursue becoming a massage therapist so that he could also help people in the same way.

Nancy McManus is a dedicated body work professional for more than 25 years.  She brings a compassionate and intuitive touch to her work.

Originally from the Northeast, Nancy received her initial training at the Massage Institute of New England in Cambridge, MA graduating in 1994 with a focus on Swedish Massage. Her experience working in a wide range of medical massage environments led her to enhance her training with an Associates in Applied Science and become licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Nancy understands the difficulties her clients face in committing to long term recovery while trying to keep up with daily obligations. As a therapist she is a great choice for our clients struggling with recurring or long term issues. Her combination of healing touch and genuine concern for the welfare of her clients has made her an vital member of the community and our practice.

Jonathan Frederiksen, Owner

Jonathan Frederiksen, BA, BS, MEd

Jonathan owns Whole Body Wellness and a similar clinic just north of Santa Fe in Arroyo Seco (just south of Espanola), Northern New Mexico Health Care.  He has been working in the health and wellness field for over 25 years in various capacities and has been involved in the field of bodywork and holistic care, including massage therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care for over a decade.

Jonathan has a well-rounded background when it comes to health and wellness. He began his health-focused work as a License Profession Counselor (LPC) in Texas after receiving his Master of Education from the University of North Texas.  His next adventure in health care was as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).  Licensure was received after completing his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of New Mexico.  He practiced dental hygiene for 17 years.  He thoroughly enjoyed his previous careers and the window into what it means to be human that they afforded him.

He serves as an Energy Device Specialist at Whole Body Wellness and as the primary operator of our LightForce Deep Tissue Laser and Radial Pressure Wave.  He also works as a chiropractic assistant at both of his clinics.

Of course, his duties also encompass all of the administrative work that comes with business ownership, but he is deeply interested in the clinical work he is engaged in at the clinic as he finds it a perfect setting for him to bring his previous years of working in health care together to help patients. 

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys being outside.  Frequently, he is on his mountain or road bike, or sometimes on a dirt bike.  He also greatly enjoys fly fishing.  He even ties some of his own flies.

We’re honored to be part of our clients’ health and wellness teams—and we take this trust and responsibility seriously. We’ve recently added expert practitioners including state-licensed Doctors of Oriental Medicine (DOMs, or acupuncturists), chiropractors (DCs), as well as the highly trained medical and sports massage therapists (LMTs) that our practice was founded upon. We also continually work to expand coverage of our services under various health insurance plans, as well as auto and personal injury cases, toward reducing financial costs to our clients and patients. We seek to work closely with you and your Primary Care Provider (PCP) to provide highly effective adjunct rehab, and acute or chronic pain therapies that are non- to minimally-invasive and pharmaceutical-free.

While our practitioners draw upon a variety of holistic health modalities, we are all focused on using science and evidence-based protocols that are both safe and reproducible in their results. We believe in an approach that makes you, our client, central to your own health care decisions and successful treatment. Toward this end, we will work with you and your PCP in developing rehab/health restoration strategies that are safe, effective, and understandable to you.

Many of our clients visit our office to seek alternatives to pharmaceutical and surgical interventions related to their health challenges. Others are looking for a complementary treatment to their doctor’s recommendations. 

At Whole Body Wellness Center, we know that Western medicine offers remarkable treatments for various injuries and diseases and often works closely with physicians and other health care providers. We also understand that invasive procedures and drug therapies can often be avoided or reduced with the help of alternative modalities.

To create a unique blend of medical approaches, we teamed together to offer medical and sports massage, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and naprapathy. These therapies can be used individually or together, depending on your personal needs and goals. 

For example, combining chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture therapy can often create better results than using these methods individually. Massage therapy helps to relax your muscles and allows easier spinal and joint adjustments during your chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments allow longer-lasting muscle relaxation and better body alignment. Relaxation of your muscles can reduce headaches or other pain temporarily. Incorporating acupuncture into the mix can help reduce the underlying inflammation of your chronic pain or symptoms. The combination of these alternative treatment methods helps to reduce pain and address underlying issues at the same time.
